Plus a reluctance by developers to consider building other types of housing such as condominiums and townhomes instead of just single-family houses.
Outstanding need is to get more people involved
Donating land can dramatically cut the cost of development. It can have dramatic tax benefits for the wealthy. But there are bigger, universal issues that affect every community:
- Many people are unaware that a problem exists because it doesn’t affect them or their neighborhood.
- They believe that living near project will negatively affect surrounding property values and work to defeat affordable housing efforts.
